#117) 2014 - A Year In Review

Happy New Year to All,

2014 was a busy and eventful year, culminating with the Librascope Reunion in November. About 80 people attended, and a good time was had by all. Several photos were taken which will soon be published on the Librascope Memories website. Note, photos from the 1999, 2000, and 2002 Reunions are also in process, along with a couple "new" 1997 Librascope videos.

In April, the Librascope Memories website marked its 5 year anniversary, and two books of significant interest to Libravets were reviewed during the year. See Posts #102, 108, and 109 below.

Sadly, 2014 also marked the passing of four senior members of the Librascope management staff. Chuck Steele left us in April, followed by Jerry Deitz in July, Walt Picker in October, and Hank Pinczower in November. Stan Williams' and Jim Conway's passings were also reported on.

#116) Services for Henry (Hank) Pinczower

Hank Pinczower, retired Vice President of Programs at Librascope, passed away from leukemia at his home early Saturday morning, November 8th.

Hank, who came to the U. S. from Germany in the late 1930's, was a proud c. 1952 electrical engineering graduate of CCNY, and a varsity soccer player. He was also a 20+ year Libravet who was perhaps best known for spearheading the Company's many significant programs with the U. S. Army. Hank retired in 1994, and last attended the 2012 Librascope Reunion.

Funeral Services for Hank will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills on Tuesday morning, November 11th at 9:00 AM.

#45) Help....Hank Pinczower is looking for info about the Librascope LARGO.

Hank Pinczower is looking for any information available about the Librascope Largo computer. Hank says the Largo was never built, but it was marketed as a lower cost "stripped down" version of Librascope's ASN 24 airborne computer. There were marketing brochures, and he believes there was an article published about the Largo.

 

The computer got its name from Los Angeles' Club Largo on Sunset Boulevard that Candy Barr, the stripper, was performing in at the time. This was sometime around the late 1950's or early 1960's.
